    What is the secret of ageless Italian beauty? It’s olive oil! Extra virgin olive oil is not only perfect for food, but it also has magical beauty benefits.

    When we say ‘olive oil’ in this article we refer to extra virgin olive oil. For beauty treatments is used only extra virgin olive oil which retains all the beneficial nutrients.

    Olive oil contains three major antioxidants: vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols. Antioxidants, when topically applied, may help protect the skin from premature skin aging. Vitamin E partly accounts for the anti-aging benefits of olive oil because it helps restore skin smoothness and protects against ultraviolet light. Hydroxytyrosol, a rather rare compound found in olive oil, also prevents free radical damage to the skin.

    Olive oil is also a rich source of squalene – one of the most common lipids produced by human skin cells. It has excellent moisturising properties and can help regulate the production of sebum.

    What is also unique about olive oil, is that you can start doing beauty treatments with olive oil at any age. If you’re young, the oil will help you to look young and beautiful for a long long time. And if you got wrinkles – don’t worry, olive oil itself is one of the best anti-wrinkle remedies!

    Today we are sharing the method of face skin rejuvenation, which is used by many Italian women. It’s based on a regular application of olive oil face masks.

    It’s recommended to apply face masks twice a week. So, every week you should make two masks. And you should have 2-3 days off between the treatments. To include it into your beauty routine, you may set a certain days when you apply a mask. For example, Monday and Friday, or Wednesday and Saturday. If you also include olive oil into your daily diet, the effect will be even more noticeable!

    So, here is the description of the face skin rejuvenation method based on olive oil treatments.

    Before you apply any face mask you need to cleanse the skin. The best thing to cleanse the face with is also olive oil. Just rub your neck and face skin with the oil with help of a cotton pad. Olive oil perfectly works as a makeup removal and as a face cleanser as well.

    Week one

    Face peeling

    Mix 2 tbsps of wheat bran with 2 tbsps of olive oil, whisk well.
    Apply the mask on your face and use your fingertips to make a light peeling massage along the massage lines.
    Let the mask sit for 15 min. Then rinse with warm water.

    Skin tone up

    You will need 1 tsp of cutted mint leaves (or dried mint leaves mixed with boiling water), 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp of olive oil.
    Mix everything and blend well.
    Apply the mix on a cleansed face skin, avoid around eye area and decollete area.
    Leave the mask for 10 min, then rinse with cool water.

    Week two

    Lightning blemishes and skin tone

    Mix 2 tbsps of oat flour (or grinded oat flakes), 1 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tbsp of honey and 2 tbsps of olive oil, whisk well.
    Apply the mask on you face skin and decollete area.
    Leave the mask for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

    Face skin soothing and moisturising

    You will need 1 medium cucumber, 1 ripe banana and 1-2 tbsps of olive oil.
    Grate the cucumber with a fine grater and mash the banana. Mix everything, whisk and slowly add the olive oil until you get a creamy texture.
    Apply the mix on your face and let it sit for 30 min. Then rinse everything with warm water.

    Week three

    Skin cleansing

    Mix some cosmetic clay with olive oil to achieve cream texture. If you don’t have clay, you can replace it with oats flour.
    Apply the mask on your face skin and décolleté area (avoid around eye area), leave for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

    Face lifting

    You will need one medium potato and 1 tsp of olive oil.
    Peel potato and grade it with a fine grater. Warm the oil till 40°C and add it to the potato, mix well.
    Apply the mix on your face skin and neck. Let it sit for 15-20 min, then rinse with water.

    After you’re done with all 6 masks repeat the course in next 3 weeks.

    You can repeat the course permanently during all the year. Or at least from the end of autumn till the beginning of spring, when your skin specially needs protection.

    This method is very economiс, both cost-effective and time-saving.

    If you include olive oil masks method into your usual beauty routine you can achieve good results and will notice that you look at least 10 years younger.
