I got some expert advice from real face mask junkies, who have tried everything, from black charcoal peel off face mask, to diy face masks. And here it is!
If you are like me, you have probably spent a lot of money on face masks that do absolutely nothing. But these are the face masks that genuinely make a difference to your skin.
I’ve collected the tips from face care junkies, and tested everything by myself. Here I have a mixture of high-end and drugstore, so there should be something for everybody.
I have an acne prone oily skin type. Also my skin is very textured, I struggle with open enlarged pores. So all of these face masks are targeted to my skin type and targeted towards my issues. Actually, everybody can use and benefit from these masks, but they are especially good for oily skin type. With these face masks I feel like my pores look so much smaller, my skin looks plumper and tighter, and just a lot less texture on it.
Best acne treatment
– Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment
This is a clarifying mask with six exfoliating acids and activated charcoal. It is designed to be used as a full face mask, or as a spot treatment. I know, it’s pretty expensive, so I prefer to use it as a spot treatment to get rid of acne. If you use it over your entire face, I’m sure that it would work absolute wonders in that sense.
For clearing really nasty acne, even breakouts under the skin, scoop out a little bit of the treatment, and slather it on the damaged areas before going to bed, and sleep in it overnight. You will wake up in the morning, and that acne spot will be really gone.
– The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Face Mask
Similar looking to the Glamglow one. This mask is infused with bamboo charcoal and other natural ingredients. I use the charcoal full face mask only once a week, and I just find my skin is producing less oil, it is so much more clear, healthy and glowing.
This face mask really deeply cleanses, unclogs pores, pulls out any greasiness, releases impurities and toxins. If you want to get rid of acne, excessive oil production, blackheads and breakouts, and things like that, you’ll absolutely love it.
Best face exfoliators
– L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Red Algae Face Mask
This is an amazing affordable drugstore mask that makes a huge difference. It contains red algae and volcanic rock to exfoliate dead skin on face and smooth surface imperfections. And it definitely does what it says.
You put it on as a clay face mask, and when you you’re ready to rinse it off, you add a little bit of water, and you actually scrub your face with it, and then rinse it off. It leaves your face skin super soft. Then when you do your makeup in the morning, your skin looks so smooth under foundation.
The packaging is very nice too, it does not feel like a drugstore more affordable item, actually it feels super high-end.
– Ole Henriksen Power Peel
Basically it’s a three-step system, in easy-to-use, prepackaged doses. They’re also numbered, so you get the drift, which one you need to use first, second, third.
The first one is Almond Polish Facial Scrub, it contains almond and bamboo extracts. And first what you need to do is to scrub your skin using that for about two minutes. Don’t go too hard, it is pretty abrasive, so make sure that you’re gentle with your face.
The second is Lemon Facial Peel that contains acids combined with orange and lemon extracts. Basically what it does, it chemically exfoliates the skin.
And the third step. You leave step-2 on your face and apply step-3 over your entire face. This is Chamomile Comfort Mask. It contains chamomile and evening primrose seed extracts, and it smells so good! Basically it helps to calm, soothe and comfort, and it really deeply hydrates the skin.
After you leave that on for about 20 minutes, you rinse the whole thing off. What you are left with, is extremely smooth, radiant face look. It’s like you’ve peeled off a whole layer of skin, and you’ve got like baby skin underneath. It’s literally instant transformation.
Best moisturizer for oily skin
Even with an oily skin type there is nothing more important, than actually deeply hydrating your face skin. It helps to balance everything out, it stops you from producing too much oil, and helps you to get rid of acne. Because your skin goes ‘oh, I’ve had a drink today, I don’t need to produce so much oil to make myself feel like I’ve had a drink’.
– Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Rosewater Mask
This is the rose face mask, and smells like real roses! And the purpose of this mask is to hydrate and tone. Any skin type will be obsessed with this. This mask does such an amazing job of hydrating the skin.
It has rosewater, pomegranate seed oil, aloe vera juice, and many other extracts and oils, that deliver optimum moisture, essential hydration, dermal vitality to soothe and nourish the face skin.
I’m using this mask once a week, and I find that I’m producing a lot less oil. I notice a huge difference in my skin, it feels so soft, so plump, so moisturized, so hydrated.
It’s not drippy, or messy, you can apply this and walk around the house, or do housework, or whatever. It’s not one of those masks where you actually stuck on the couch.
– TONYMOLY Master Lab Mask Sheet
This is a sheet mask collection that features different ingredients all targeting different skin concerns. The one with hyaluronic acid locks in moisture, boosts elasticity, and visibly plumps the skin.
I leave it on for about 20 minutes, and it makes my face skin feel so soft and hydrated, and it just it leaves my face like literally glowing. And for a drugstore mask that does not happen that often.
And the only thing about these is obviously it’s a sheet mask, so you’re not gonna be able to walk around. But at the same time it forces you to take time for yourself and relax.
If you’re a sheet mass junkie, and you’re wanting to try some more affordable ones, I would definitely recommend these. These genuinely make a difference and they genuinely make your skin feel amazing.
